Each merchant is unique and so is each market, in which players must adapt to consumer preferences. At every step, we’ve got you covered. This time we are welcoming SOFORT as a new member of the payment methods family on our Nets Easy checkout platform.

From now on, customers will be able to use SOFORT along with credit and debit cards, PayPal, and invoice and instalments through Ratepay, which are already available on Nets Easy in Germany.

SOFORT is a trusted German-based Open Banking solution on a mission to make bank transfers simple. By adding Sofort to Nets Easy, your customers will meet yet another familiar payment option when checking out – making way for more time to spend on what really matters.

According to our ‘Deutschland E-Com Report 2021’, the German payments landscape is quite diverse and fragmented. Interestingly, e-wallets (48%) and invoices (37%) ranked as the leading methods of payment in the German market, while only 3% of the respondents use cash on delivery.

Along with that, last year 23% of the consumers paid by online transfer, a process which takes time and effort with every transaction – unless you use SOFORT to remove the friction.

You might be wondering why has Germany caught our eye? The answer is because we see huge market potential for our merchants to sell more.

You see, when asked, only 6% of Germans stated their preference for paying by online transfers. But in reality, 23% of them have paid with this method in 2021. This means there is plenty of room to improve the customer experience and remove friction in the checkout process when using direct transfers.

  • Merchants are expected to benefit from our new integration for two main reasons:
  • Direct bank transfers are regarded as valuable, yet complicated
Sofort is a well-known and trusted brand in addition to making transfers simple

More than 20 million customers around the globe are confident about Sofort because they are not required to submit any personal information and card details to the merchant.
Your customers in Germany feel safer in paying with a direct bank transfer, and upon seeing a brand they trust, are more eager to finalise their payment.

In fact, the only thing you should do is use your own online banking data and put your trust issues aside. That’s where we step in!

And it benefits merchants too!

Besides the value for your customers in making fast, simple, and secure payments directly from their bank accounts, there are benefits for you as well. Merchants using direct bank transfers with Sofort receive real-time confirmation that the payment has been made, enabling speedy dispatch of goods or immediate download.  In addition, enabling Sofort in Nets Easy means that you will get all your online bank transfer payments in a consolidated pay-out for all payment methods.

The experience flows effortlessly

Keep the checkout flow effortless after selecting to pay with Sofort, there are 4 simple additional steps for your customers:

1. Select their bank, depending on the country

2. Login to their bank account via Sofort’s integration

3. View the payment and confirm the transaction

4. Once payment is confirmed, Sofort redirects customers back to the merchant’s confirmation page.

Still wondering what all the fuss is about?

  • Customers get the best-in-class experience of using Sofort which saves time, energy, and keeps their data private.
  • By adding one of the most preferred payment methods in Germany, you make more customers feel safe parting with their money. (And more customers equals more sales!)
