An easier shopping trip means increased sales for Norwegian clothing store Deguy

Problem: An outdated payment solution with few payment methods

For almost 50 years, the proud family business Deguy has sold high-quality clothing to fashion-conscious ladies looking for everything from blouses and dresses to jackets and silk shawls. Deguy runs seven physical stores in Norway– in Bergen, Oslo, Stavanger and Sandnes. It also runs an online store full of well-known brands, including their own label called Tricot.  

Outdated payment solution 

Deguy’s employees take pride in ensuring that all customers feel welcome and looked after in all their physical stores, to contribute to the most stress-free and pleasant shopping experience possible. The same principle also applies in their online store. Deguy has therefore focused on– and invested in– optimizing its website. 

“It is important to have an inviting online shop with good text and nice pictures. Then it must be easy for customers to pay. All this should be in place if you are to succeed online with ecommerce,” says Ole Morten Aadland Stølen, Web Manager at Deguy. 

Ole Morten continues to say that the payment solution they previously used in the online store was out of date and had to be replaced: “Our previous payment solution had expired, and it was high time we implemented something that was more user-friendly. We were concerned that the customer should not have to make more clicks than strictly necessary to complete a purchase.”

Solution: Implemented the digital payment solution by Nets Easy to simplify online purchases

Multiple payment methods 

Whereas previously Deguy could only accept card payments; with Nets Easy they could now also offer their customers additional payment methods such as Vipps, invoice, partial payment, and “Buy Now, Pay Later” (BNPL). Customers could also choose to save their card and personal details so that this information is automatically available the next time they shop. This reduces the number of clicks, naturally adding convenience and ensuring a faster transaction. 

“It is a big advantage for us that Nets Easy has support for several payment methods– all in the same checkout. In the Nets Easy portal, we can see that 45% of our customers choose to pay with Vipps; 34% by invoice and partial payment; and the rest choose cards,” explains Ole Morten. 

He continues, stating that he is also excited about the opportunity to adapt the payment window in the online store so that it is in line with their brand: “Nets Easy has a smart design function that makes it possible to style the payment window so that it appears as a natural part of our website. It makes it look tidy, with our own colors and logos. I really like that feature.”

If you were to buy these features separately from several different vendors, it would be a lot to keep track of, and likely more expensive,” explains Helge Krossøy, CEO at Gurusoft. 

Deguy has benefited from the expertise of Gurusoft for over ten years, which has helped the company develop and explore new opportunities: “The collaboration with Gurusoft works well, and they offer a good platform that we are very satisfied with. We come up with all kinds of requests for them, and then they throw themselves into the ideas we present and then develop solutions for us. We are very keen to test out new functionalities,” says Ole Morten.

Result: Increased turnover by 82%

Increased conversion and turnover 

After optimizing the online store and adopting Nets Easy, Deguy has experienced an enormous growth in online clothing sales. 

“I think our customers appreciate that it is so easy to shop in our online store, with as few keystrokes as possible. In recent years, we have seen a positive development in terms of both conversion and turnover online,” states Deguy’s Web Manager, Ole Morten. 

“Already in the first year after upgrading our online store and implementing Nets Easy, we could measure a 67% increase in the number of transactions and an increase of 82% in turnover. The average order value increased by 8.96%,” says Ole Morten. 

Helge at Gurusoft adds that Deguy now has a payment solution that resonates with the target group and facilitates increased sales and further growth. He explains that: “Nets Easy offers flexibility in the form of several different payment methods to choose from. Nets is also a strong brand that radiates security. Customers simply know that this is a safe, stable, and robust payment solution.”  

Helge continues to explain that they have adopted Nets Easy with many of their customers, and that they have good experience with the online payment solution. He states that: “We have worked with Nets for many years and have a very good collaboration. We know the people in Nets well, and they are usually present at our customer meetings. Together we interact well.”  

Helge, concludes with a tip: “More and more Norwegian consumers choose to pay with Vipps, so if you run an online store, it is very short-sighted not to offer it today. You risk missing out on many sales.”
